Warner Bros ha anunciado varias fechas de estreno, entre ellas se encuentra Green Lantern, para el 17 de Diciembre de 2010.

De acuerdo con Variety, Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) se encuentra negociando para dirigir. A finales de año pasado Greg Berlanti habia sido anunciado como director, pero aparentemente Warner lo puso a dirigir This Is Where I Leave You.

Entre los rumores para protagonizar, LatinoReview reporta que Ryan Gosling (The Notebook) y Emile Hirsch (Meteoro) rechazaron el papel, y ahora los productores estan detras de Anton Yelchin (Terminator: La Salvación, Star Trek).

I had no idea about that...I have no clue. I have no idea. I think I'm probably too young. I mean, no one has approached me. No one has said anything to me. I imagine I'm just too young. I mean, it's a great character but i don't know anything about it...I haven't heard anything about it.

Is Green Lantern going to be a straight up conventional action comic book movie or is it more of a comedy?

Donald De Line: It is absolutely a big action/adventure piece and fantasy obviously as we go out into space with the Green Lantern. And it’s Hal Jordan. It will absolutely have a sense of humor as well, character based humor. So it’s not dark it that regard.

Is it more like an Iron Man?

Donald De Line: I would say the tone absolutely wants to live in that kind of a world.

A lot of fandom seems to be excited by comic book movies and they seem to be a huge part of the box office. Is this project definitely green lit and going?

Donald De Line: It is definitely going as much as anything is in the movie business right now. We’re in pre-production. We have Martin Campbell directing it. We have our production designer and costume designer. We’re heading off to Australia to scout next week. It’s on the release calendar. I feel like we’d have to do something really wrong to stop it from happening. But I think we’re absolutely going to keep it on the track.

Well it seems to me that the Marvel movies have done such a good job at introducing other characters into their movies like they did in Iron Man with Nick Fury. Are you guys already thinking about say introducing another DC character in Green Lantern?

Donald De Line: I haven’t gone there because I’m just doing Green Lantern, but DC Comic is a part of Warner Bros. and they both have a very large agenda with that. So I think they’ve got all kinds of things in the works. Yeah, definitely.

Linterna Verde comienza a filmarse en Septiembre

De acuerdo con Production Weekly, Warner Bros. Pictures comenzara a filmar Green Lantern en Australia a partir de Septiembre. También, han instalado oficinas de producción en el complejo Tribeca West de Los Angeles.

Linterna Verde es el nombre de varios personajes en la linea de historietas de DC Comics, el primero de ellos creado en 1940 por Bill Finger y Martin Nodell. El segundo Linterna Verde es Hal Jordan, presentado en 1959, un piloto de pruebas, quien recibió el anillo de poder y su batería (linterna) de parte de un alienígena moribundo llamado Abin Sur. Cuando la nave de Abin Sur se estrelló en la Tierra, el alienígena usó su anillo para buscar a un individuo que tomara su lugar como linterna verde, alguien que fuera "totalmente honesto y sin miedo".

Green Lantern, dirigida por Martin Campbell, tiene fecha de estreno el 17 de Diciembre de 2010.
