As you are aware, yes, we have decided to not release Dying Light on last-gen consoles (PS3 and Xbox 360). It wasn't a move that we took lightly - trust us when we say that we thought about this long and hard before making the announcement. However, it was a move that we had to do for the sake of the game.
Dying Light is the most advanced and ambitious project that we ever made. To create it, we needed to build one of the most technically advance engines around - our very own Chrome Engine 6. This engine allows us to display 200,000 objects at once, while processing realistic, physics-based lightning, and running the Natural Movement system (parkour) and our open world all at the same time. And when it came down to it, the old gens could not cope with it.
We tried to optimize the game for the old-gens, and we tested the game on the old systems through and through. Unfortunately, the older consoles just cannot run Dying Light the way we intended it to run - it wasn't the experience that we envisioned.
From the get go, we wanted Dying Light to be something really special, a truly revolutionary, next-level experience. We've put our whole heart and soul into this game. So when we were faced with either putting out the best possible experience, or provide a "watered-down" version of the game, we decided that we owe it to the game, and our fans, to give the best Dying Light experience possible. It was a hard choice that we had to make, and we cannot wait to show you the full game in all its glory come January 2015.
