Film News : Superman Plot Revealed!

Zack Snyder’s Superman : Man of Steel will be set in Smallville, Metropolis.. and West Africa.

Though the film will feature the ‘red/blue blur’, Clark Kent will be the central focus of the story.

In the Christopher Nolan produced reboot, Kent’s “a young journalist, traveling for the globe, who would rather solve problems and help people without resorting to using his special powers.”

A character breakdown issued to casting agencies this week says that the plot involves Clark getting involved in some sort of battle between two tribes in West Africa.

“When he is compelled to use his secret powers to intervene in a crisis in West Africa, Clark returns to Smallville to learn more about his origins and the hero he was born to be”.

Sounds interesting. Definitely somewhat of a prequel, isn’t it? Look forward to hearing about who they cast….

… speaking of, Anne Hathaway is said to be a contender to play Lois Lane in the film. Could work, ’spose?

Henry Cavill is Zack Snyder's SUPERMAN: MAN OF STEEL!

Just got this confirmed...   Henry Cavill has not only screen tested for SUPERMAN in SUPERMAN: MAN OF STEEL, but he has officially signed aboard and is soon to be announced as Zack Snyder's SUPERMAN!!!

Henry Cavill is still mainly unknown in the film world, being known for his work on THE TUDORS as Charles Brandon.   He's played parts in HELLRAISER: HELLWORLD, TRISTON + ISOLDE, STARDUST and he'll be playing Theseus in the upcoming IMMORTALS.

Word is it that everyone involved in production is thrilled with Cavill's take.   That Zack is over the moon for him.   They'll begin shooting in 4 months...  and the world holds their collective breath.   

May it kick unholy ass!

Hollywood Insider : The Hunt for Lois Lane!

So we’ve got ourselves a new Superman, Henry Cavill.

Great actor, but hearing that it didn’t necessarily come down to that - who would be the best man for the job; the decision was eventually made by way of mathematical equation, ‘who is available to the movie in the window that we’ve got?’ Quite a few of Cavill’s competitors impressed, especially True Blood star Joe Manganiello, but they weren’t as readily available ‘right away’ as Cavill was.

It’s going to work the same way with whoever goes up for Lois Lane - in fact, a scheduling clash had already cost one actress the part; Anne Hathaway had been the pick for the feisty reporter from day one but she wasn’t going to be able to do Dark Knight Rises as well - for numerous reasons - as Superman, so was forced to make a decision. I think she made the right one.

You’re going to be hearing a lot of names over the next couple of weeks, as director Zack Snyder and the casting couch play guest to a bevy of young actresses all vying for the role of Superman’s love interest, but there’s already a few actresses said to have either read or have been asked to read for the part.

Kristen Stewart - Have heard her name mentioned in relation to the part for about a week now. I don’t think it’s going to happen though… too many other juicy offers on the tablet for the pretty Twilight actress.

Malin Akerman - Akerman, who starred in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen, was in with a shot at one stage but now that Superman has been cast, and he’s considerably younger than 32-year-old Akerman, I’d say there’s zero chance of this happening.

Dianna Agron - The Glee star has a real go-getter of an agent that’s getting his client in the door and on the floor of near every major movie in town. She read for Spider-Man, and is said to have also read for Superman. Bit young though, perhaps?

Jessica Biel - One of the leading contenders for the role. She’s got as much spunk as she has sexy appeal, don’t be surprised if the trade reveals that the Blade Trinity star has gotten the nod in a weeks time.

Rachel McAdams - Like Biel, I hear McAdams has quite a few fans over there at Warner Bros (Whom she did Sherlock Holmes with a year or so back). McAdams was also on the shortlist for Dark Knight Rises, so sounds like Chris Nolan - who, in addition to directing the Batman movie is producing the Superman movie - likes him a McAdams with special sauce.

Also heard the names ‘Winstead’, and ‘Bell’ but from third and fourth-hand sources. If anybody has anything on the latter two I’d appreciate it.

But hey, who knows!?… someone might walk through the casting office door tomorrow.. someone totally unexpected… someone ready to blow Snyder and company off their feet… and they might just get the job to be the Daily Planet’s second best-known reporter.

Exclusive: Lois Lane May Be Wilde

Over the weekend Warner Bros. Pictures announced that Henry Cavill is the new son of Krypton in the upcoming reboot of "Superman," which is being directed by Zack Snyder.

Now the big question is who is the villain and who is going to play Lois Lane, the primary love interest of Superman? Earlier today we reported that the site 'What's Playing' supposedly had these actresses read or have been asked to read for the part of Lois Lane. The actresses are Kristen Stewart (GOD LETS HOPE NOT), Rachel McAdams, Jessica Biel, Dianna Agron and Malin Akerman. And that Kristen Bell and Mary Elizabeth Winstead tried out as well.

NOW I got word from a close reliable source WHO I CAN NOT MENTION, SO STOP WITH THE "WHO IS YOUR SOURCE" as if I am actually going to tell you and have that person get fired or in trouble.

What I was told today was that Olivia Wilde (TRON: Legacy, Cowboys & Aliens) has tested for Lois Lane in "Superman." The source knows this because they've been hired to work on "KIN" and the dates may be pushed back to accommodate the "Superman" schedule should she get the gig. They also mentioned to me that the Rachel McAdams story is true.

I contacted Warner Bros. Pictures and asked if it was true and they responded with "NO COMMENT AT THIS TIME."
