http://iesb.net/index.php?option=com_co ... &Itemid=71Transformers: Dark of the Moon Having 3-D Trouble
Insiders are telling the IESB that Transformers: Dark of the Moon is hitting some snags in the 3-D process.
We first heard about the problem three weeks ago but needed to confirm with a few friends that work at several 3-D post-production facilities. As it's been reported, Transformers: Dark of the Moon has shot some scenes in native 3-D and the rest that was shot in standard 2-D that will be converted in post production.
What hasn't been reported is that the footage that was shot in 3-D is giving the filmmakers some trouble. Our post production insiders are telling the IESB that Michael Bay is doing some scrambling trying to salvage the footage that was shot. "The 3-D looks like shit and we don't know if we will be able to use all of it the way it is," our insider tells IESB.
"Avatar set the standard very high for 3-D films and even though some of the best people in the 3-D business were brought aboard for TF3 but with Michael's quick, aggressive style of shooting without any real past experience has caused hiccups," our insider added.
Uh-oh, so does that mean that the footage will need to be reshot? Nope, what it does mean that the footage is not up to the standard that was expected by the studio and now will be in the hands of pros in the 3-D post production houses. That's right, the native 3-D footage will have to go through some of the same conversion techniques that non-native 3-D films have to go through.
So what will the final product look like Clash of the Titans or Avatar? Definitely not Avatar but hopefully not as bad as Clash of the Titans.
To be fair to Michael Bay he never really wanted to shoot this film in 3-D or to have it converted to 3-D but was forced by the studio.
To end on a positive note one of our sources up at ILM have told us that the FX work looks insane and that the story and plot is far superior to the two previous films. Which is great since I love the first Transformers film...really didn't care for Revenge of the Fallen.
So unless the 3-D is corrected in post, I will be watching the Transformers: Dark of the Moon in 2-D.
Expect the studio and filmmakers to deny or spin the story by this weekend.

Re: Transformers 3
Ahora salen a decir que es todo mentira
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=71932Wow, I read these morons on the internet who think they are in the know. "We have have problems with our 3D????” Really? Come into my edit room and I will show you beautiful 3D. There has never been a live action show that has pushed the boundaries of 3D like Transformers 3. We shot the entire movie with 3D cameras. I actually loved shooting in 3D.
I will give full details of my process and why I liked 3D in the next week right before the Transformers announcement piece comes out on Tron and Narnia.
And don't watch this movie in 2D, we made it for 3D.
Michael
