'V' Star Morena Baccarin Among Actresses on ‘Avengers’ Shortlist (Exclusive)

Imagen

Marvel is conducting screen tests Friday for one of the final roles still looking to be cast in The Avengers, the all-star superhero ensemble being directed by Joss Whedon. Last night Samuel L. Jackson revealed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon it is that of his "sidekick."

V star Morena Baccarin is on that list. Also said to be vying for the part are Jessica Lucas, Cobie Smulders and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who are still negotiating their test deals for the part of a key member of the espionage agency run by Nick Fury, played in the Marvel movies by Jackson. Some earlier speculation pegged the role to be that of Avengers team member Janet van Dyne/the Wasp, but Marvel declined to comment.

The test deals for the role involve a nine-picture option, so whoever snags the role has a chance to be seen in subsequent Marvel movies. There is also a 30-day hold on the actresses.

Baccarin, repped by ICM and Seven Summits, may have an edge since the actress did star in Whedon’s short-lived sci-fi TV series Firefly and its subsequent film spinoff, Serenity.

Lucas, repped by Gersh and Thruline Entertainment, was one of the stars of Melrose Place, appears in TV’s Friends With Benefits and has a role in Big Momma’s House 3.
Smulders, repped by UTA and Roar, is best known for her work in CBS' How I Met Your Mother.

Winstead, who played Ramona Flowers in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, next stars in Universal’s The Thing, the remake of the 1982 John Carpenter horror movie. She is repped by CAA.

The casting of the female actress will serve to (slightly) even the gender odds in male-heavy cast. Scarlett Johansson (as the Black Widow) is the only notable female in a roll call that includes Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Jackson (Nick Fury), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor).

Avengers is slated for a start in late April.

Cobie Smulders Closes In On 'Avengers'

I'm hearing that How I Met Your Mother star Cobie Smulders has emerged as the front runner for the role of SHIELD Agent Maria Hill in the Joss Whedon-directed The Avengers and that a deal could be done before the weekend is out. The role has been the subject of high speculation since Samuel L. Jackson gave it up in an interview with Jimmy Fallon that he would be reading as Nick Fury alongside five actresses vying for an unidentified female sidekick role. That audition happened yesterday. Reports had V's Morena Baccarin, Jessica Lucas and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as other candidates. Smulders wasn't completely unknown to Whedon. In fact, he liked her as a candidate for Wonder Woman when he was working on that superhero film. Deadline has learned that the role is Maria Hill, who in the comics was the ruthless interim executive director of SHIELD, who was not above blackmailing and bullying superheros to get her way. She was eventually supplanted in that top job by Tony Stark aka Iron Man. As with all Marvel movies, the deal comes with a pile of options for appearances in future superhero films. She's repped by UTA and Roar. Marvel Studios starts production in April, which presumably falls into Smulders' TV hiatus on the CBS sitcom.

The Avengers will be released by Disney May 4, 2012, and it shapes up as the equivalent of a superhero All Star game written and directed by a filmmaker beloved by the geek crowd. Robert Downey Jr brings his Iron Man character, Jeremy Renner is Hawkeye, Scarlett Johansson is Black Widow, Chris Hemsworth is Thor, Mark Ruffalo is Bruce Banner/The Hulk, and Chris Evans is Captain America.  Tom Hiddleston is Loki and Clark Gregg reprises the role of SHIELD agent Phil Coulson that he played in the last Iron Man.

Alto rumor...
Yvonne in The Avengers?

Though it’s not often that we get the scoop on anything here, I’ve just received information from a protected source inside Marvel that points to Yvonne Strahovski being cast in the upcoming Avengers movie as Ms. Marvel.

Could it be true?

I, for one, have long hoped to see Yvonne crop up in a comic book movie. She’s got the action chops to easily pull it off and it was really just a matter of time before the right character came along. I’d say she certainly looks the part.

Ms. Marvel is one of Marvel’s older comic book characters, debuting all the way back in 1968 (though she didn’t get her superpowers until 1977).  Her alter ego is Carol Danvers, an officer in the United States Air Force.  Her super powers have included super strength, super agility, precognition, and flight.

Though it’s only rumor at this point, I’m really hoping to see this one come through.  Getting major exposure in such a big budget flick will surely up Yvonne’s stock and we’re for anything that gets Yvonne into the hearts of America!

The Avengers is set to release in 2012 and tells the story of a group of Superheroes including Iron Man, Thor, The Hulk, and Captain America.

The Avengers is being written and directed by Joss Whedon and will star Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo and Samuel L. Jackson (among others).

Si tiene mas sentido, quiza hagan lo mismo que en la serie animada, que la muestran como agente, luego le pasa algo y al final del capitulo se la ve "levitando" :piensa:

Exclusive: There is another big time villain in 'Marvel's The Avengers'

As we speak THE AVENGERS is currently in production.

What do we know so far?

Back in March we exclusively reported that the main villain for "The Avengers" is none other than Thor's adoptive brother and archenemy LOKI and that he will need some serious muscle to go up against "The Avengers" and he does this by using the cosmic cube. Loki uses the cube to get a hold of the Aliens (aka The Skrulls) to invade Earth and fight "The Avengers." Skrulls are green-skinned reptilian humanoids with large pointed ears, red or green eyes, and corrugated chins.

But that’s not at all!

In the famous last of words of Master Yoda…”There is another…”

Yes.

There is another big time villain in THE AVENGERS!

*SPOILER WARNING* IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW DON’T READ BELOW!

Now that we got that out of the way…

According to very trusted always on point sources, Latinoreview has exclusively learned that the other villain in THE AVENGERS is…

…THANOS!

Now I’m not going to spoil how he is in the movie, but trust me when we tell you that he is in there.

If you think about it, it is also kind of obvious.

The Infinity Gauntlet was on display at last year’s San Diego Comic Con and just made an appearance in Odin’s Vault in THOR.

According to Wikipedia, Thanos first appeared in Iron Man #55 (Feb. 1973) and was created by writer-artist Jim Starlin.

Debuting in the Bronze Age of comic books, the character has featured in over three decades of Marvel continuity and a self-titled series. The character's name is a derivation of Thanatos, the personification of death and mortality in Greek mythology. One of his more prominent storylines to date—the Infinity Gauntlet series—portrayed him as a mad cosmic tyrant bent on slaying half of all sentiences existing then in Marvel's multiverse in order to appease the Marvel Universe’s actual (and more powerful) embodied personification of Death in an attempt to win its love.

So there ya have it!

Thanos the Mad Titan will next be seen in The Avengers on May 4, 2012!
